Growing up in Minnesota Emily spent her childhood learning how to fix or make things rather than buying them new. After graduating with a BA in art Emily moved to Austin, TX to work as a graphic designer for an advertising agency. Inspired by Barack Obama’s historic win in 2008 Emily followed him to Washington, DC and got a job in United Senate. Two years later she left politics to attend Corcoran College of Art and Design’s MAT program in hopes of becoming an art educator. Emily joined the FutureMakers team in August, 2014 and worked as an in-school maker this year at a DC public charter school.
