  • Ask and answer questions in order to seek help, get information, or clarify something that is not understood.
  • Use a combination of drawing, dictating, and writing to narrate a single event or several loosely linked events, tell about the events in the order in which they occurred, and provide a reaction to what happened.

  • Orient the reader by establishing a situationand introducing a narrator and/or characters; organize an event sequence that unfolds naturally.
  • Quote accurately from a text when explaining what the text says explicitly and when drawing inferences from the text
  • Include multimedia components (e.g., graphics, sound) and visual displays in presentations when appropriate to enhance the development of main ideas or themes.
  • With prompting and support, describe the relationship between illustrations and the text in which they appear (e.g., what person, place, thing, or idea in the text an illustration depicts)
